Captain George Morose by Claire Inaba. $10. 28 pages. Full color.

Anyone clinging to comics as a delivery system of pure information and prizing clarity above all else should sense the end of days ahead, as young cartoonists are tapping into the Feininger tradition even if Feininger himself is irrelevant or unknown to them. Comics as a system of total expression, conservatism finally thrown in the trash, is seen in these pages. This is exhilarating to me. I read this comic at the end of the year, but it speaks to the mood on the horizon.
