The Follies of Richard Wadsworth by Nick Maadag. $20, 150 pages.

Maandag is one of the most underrated humorists in comics. His work manages to be wildly vulgar without saying so out loud, his drawing is simple yet outrageously controlled...but, what I like the most is the weird interplay of cruelty next to concern for real world issues in his comics. They often concern workers and bosses, and while they seem to eschew moralizing, they also zero in on real realities of the degradation of labor. Flawless!
