There has not been a serious attempt to make sense of superhero comics and which ones actually worked before this publication. Yes, there have been lists, but all the ones prior to this one mixed the best alongside the worst, without thought. This one was thought about with care, and written about with real knowledge, love and critique. I absolutely loved it, found it inspiring.
