Children of Mu-Town by Masumura Jūshichi. $20, 208 pages, softcover. Published by Glacier Bay Books
I love what Glacier Bay Books is doing, bringing contemporary non-genre manga to English speaking readers. This is a beautifully drawn and told story about the implications of a municipal renovation project, specifically on residents in a dilapidated housing tenement. The drawing in this book is so intriguing, very unlike most of the manga you'll see day to day. Clear and sparse but sharp as a tack.
