Blackout Book edited by Dan Welch. $15. 72 pages. Black and white.

Really really strong anthology edited by Welch, more focused on long substantial stories and creating a real rhythm of a certain kind of comics making, this is the rare anthology that has a sense of its self and illuminates artist that are new and immediately vital. I was quite taken with Carolyn McKown's stellar 26 page (!) story, but the selections by Tana Oshima and David Cardoza are also excellent. This perodical also features a 20 page interview between Welch and NYC comics impresario and cartoonist George Olsen, which is an illuminating and much welcome read.
